me_and_danielWe just returned from another great little getaway at Vogel State Park, in North Georgia. This was the second year we took a family vacation on the same weekend that the annual Kid’s Fishing Rodeo was held. As with our first visit ( Click Here to read the article from last years vacation ), this one was also memorable and full of fun for everyone.   We had some friends and their family join us this year and that made it even better.  Nothing like a bunch of kids (ranging from 6 – 14) enjoying the outdoors.

the_kidsThe park rangers and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) did another fantastic job and I can’t say enough good things about them.  They said this was the biggest turnout so far, at around 350 kids (If I’m remembering right). That doesn’t surprise me too much, since a lot of families are looking for more affordable vacations that also create those “magic moments” that are so important for all of us, especially our kids. Vacations don’t get any more “wholesome and real” than camping with your kids, with fishing thrown in to boot.

I wish I had a list of all the sponsors that helped put this on, so I could promote their products. Here is one I remember …

Go visit their site (click on the link above if you wish) and send them some business and tell them “Thanks” for helping put these kinds of events on. We need to vote with our dollars!
